Queen Charlotte Track now part of Cycle Trail

Posted on Mon., Mar. 1, 2013

In early March 2013, it was announced that the Queen Charlotte Track in the Marlborough Sounds has officially become the 21st Great Ride on the Ngā Haerenga New Zealand Cycle Trail.

Minister of Conservation Nick Smith made the annoncement, adding "This 70 km mountain biking track runs from historic Ship Cove to Anakiwa in the Marlborough Sounds offering some of the best views you can get over the Queen Charlotte and Kenepuru Sounds".

cyclewaynewzealand.co.nz correspondent Gabb has enjoyed the mutli-day ride of the Queen Charlotte several times and reckon's there's no better.  The stunning views, the great and varied accomodation options and excellent tracks that cater for most levels of rider combine for a memorable experience.  And if you are looking for something more demanding, there are many fine options close by like Nydia Bay.

So we are pretty stoked that this has happened.  If you haven't enjoyed the Queen Charlotte Track on your bike (your send your overnight gear on forward via water taxi so you can ride with your usual bike gear), start planning now!
